2023

Almost a wrap on 2023, and this whole year has just flown by. For some reason today feels like the only truly quiet day i’ve had all year.

Last two weeks have been especially non-stop. From producing / directing a 4 day activewear job in LA to shooting 2 days again in Lima then straight to Indiana for Christmas all across about 8 days. Then of course landed in LA on the 28th at about 9am , went straight to work at 12 noon that same day. It’s about 1pm here and i’m drinking a coffee in bed just typing away here to you people.

I just wanted to share a few photos that I took on my iphone from this year. It’s fun to write on this and share to Facebook because it’s mostly only people from Indiana or i’ve known for 10+ years that engage with it. Captions to the photos are listed below the image.

I had to keep the photos trimmed down, way too much to share from this year. Another great year, ups and downs but we stay in motion.

One of the nicest studios in LA is called Milk Studios. First week of January one of my clients booked “The Hanger” studio in Milk Studios. Just walking in there, you feel more successful, something about it.

It was January and a few friends and I decide to drive up to Big Bear Mountain in the snow, we got about halfway up before we got stopped and they closed the mountain down due to the blizzard. Here’s a photo of my truck in the midst of it.

January 31, I flew out to NYC to shoot two days for one of my clients. Here’s a photo of me on set. Moving from a tiny town in Indiana to Los Angeles was a big step, but whenever I have the opportunity to work in a bigger market like NYC it’s a special feeling.

Here we're back in LA working and my friends Kiele and Alex are goofing around for the camera. I've been in LA almost 9 years now, and I've known these girls for about 5 or 6 years. It's been fun partly growing up with some of these people and continuing

Here we’re back in LA working and my friends Kiele and Alex are goofing around for the camera. I’ve been in LA almost 9 years now, and I’ve known these girls for about 5 or 6 years. It’s been fun partly growing up with some of these people and continuing to work together. One of my first jobs was with Alex when I was about 24 and I remember first shooting Kiele when she was just 18.

Here’s an iphone shot from on set. This was a special job because I pitched the whole creative for it. I wanted to shoot a vintage style vibe with a pool table, light it all with old hot lights. My client trusted me with it and off we shot. You can see Sam the makeup artist touching up Donovan’s hair while we are prepping for the next shot.

Had to fly back and Surprise mom for her birthday.

In April work was slow so I flew to Miami to do some personal shoots and catch some warmer weather and beaches than what LA had to offer. One day I stumbled upon this wrecked boat.

I always joke to my clients that we can make a studio anywhere. Here’s us running a setup in the famed Chateau Marmot hotel.

In late April I was back in town, and of course antsy again to do something. So I pitched the idea of my buddy Peter and I going back to Fairmount. Here’s Peter standing on a rock in front of the Fairmount sign.

It takes a village. Here we are working on a boat in LA. Thankful for Greg a guy who works with me a lot and always gives 110%. Everyone got sea sick on this job except for me and the model. Ha

Another iphone pic from work. Whenever i’m directing multiple models I say “if you see your neighbor with their hand up, then put your hands down.” As you can see here that didn’t quite work since all the girls have their hands up.

Shooting a swim job in Malibu, nice day, nice sun. Cool Porsche that we rented from one of my friends.

Heres a photo I shot for the brand RVCA, printed in a small store. I used to have RVCA tshirts when I was a kid, so it was cool to work for that brand.

Here’s a photo of Katelyn, Mom and I in NYC right after seeing Billy Joel at Madison Square Garden.

Straight from NYC to Lima and I landed at 5am and here’s my greeter

here’s a shot from the Jet Ski on the 4th of July, back in Indiana.

Had a layover in Paris and I talked my friends Alex and Abby into going to see the Eiffel tower for 10 minutes before heading back to the airport to go to Cario. Just enough time to drop our Louis Vuitton bags in the rain and take a photo.

Found a mirror in Seoul , South Korea.

Back at work in LA. We shot kids, and one of the girls wanted to play tug of war with one of the camera cables.

The crew running some bounce boards while David shoots video on set in Topagna, about an hour north of LA.
